This spring I’ve had the pleasure of checking out several great new albums from two of my all time favorite artists. These include Kaya Project’s latest release called ‘Desert Phase’, and Gaudi’s bass-heavy dub n’ breaks full length called ‘No Prisoners’.
Kaya Project- Desert Phase (Interchill)
Desert Phase, the 4th album released on Salt Spring Island based Interchill Records, and it has everything that we love and would expect from this artist- deep soothing bass, downtempo break-beats, lovely acoustic melodies and vocals stringing together the incredibly smooth and rich album. Throw this on as a great backdrop for dinner parties, chilling out at home, or while doing Yoga. We have used several Interchill tracks (including one from Kaya Project) on our Bellyfit instructor mixes, and more to come for sure.

interchill presents the 4th. kaya project album desert phase. following hot on the heels of ‘...& so it goes’ (released in november 2008), this latest voyage into global electronica is inspired by windswept journeys through the sonoran desert, the thar desert and the northern sahara. for desert phase seb taylor and natasha chamberlain draw upon their personal experiences of time spent in these 3 deserts to convey the spirit of these mysterious landscapes and their inhabitants.

Gaudi- No Prisoners (Six Degrees)
Gaudi’s latest full-length on the legendary Six Degrees Records is exactly what Gaudi is renown for. It has all the great elements that have distinguished his unique style as he rocks dancefloors all around the world. No Prisoners is a bass-heavy, dance-floor driving, dubby, electro-tinged album that will get you wiggling and grooving whenver you play it- in the car or in the club. You might find a few of the tracks work really well for a Power Yoga class. The beats move you and inspire you to shake what you got! A couple of my favorites are Bad Boy Bass and Hotel Caledonia, awesome!
I had the pleasure of previewing some cuts from it last summer when I dj’d at Diversity with him, and heard him a number of other places, including on Salt Spring at my wedding!
If you missed that article, check out my blog post about that here: http://www.bellyfit.ca/articles/mid-summers-dreamy-magic/ including an exclusive listen to some of the phatest & funkiest breakbeats in existance that us all groovin and movin’ on that very special night! What a great set and what gentleman!

You can get a taste of ‘No Prisoners’ by checking out the Gaudi Remix contest winners, and also the free track on the Six Degrees site.
