As a persion in a leadership role

Alice Bracegirdle 4 June 2008 Internal | Blog 0

As a person in a leadership role, I am discovering the importance of living my message and staying true to the path that I 'preach'. Perhaps it is due to the fact that my daughter turned 7 last month and remains my greatest teacher, or the fact that I am more in love than ever and finally planning my wedding, or simply the liver cleanse I started three weeks ago, but whatever the cause, the fact remains that I am feeling healthy, clear, connected, balanced and strong, and this is the message.

The idea of Strong Women Strong World actually came to me when I was sitting on a toilet at the YMCA and reading the message board on the door in front of me. It read: "We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities." And so they do! And at that moment it became so clear to me that if this world is ever to rise out of mediocrity, war, strife and despair, then we must restore the balance. This means that the female energy on the planet, the Yin energy of softness, slowness, conservation, tranquility, gentleness, creativity and abundance must be cultivated and expanded. Conversely, the Yang energy needs to be diminished as it's qualities of restlessness, hardness, excitement, rapidity and scarcity have ruled on this planet for far too long. And so I welcome balance into my own being and thereby become a channel through which balance may flow into the world. I am not special, I am simply setting my intention like so many other incredible beings on this planet, and the intention is clear...we must change our ways, and if we don't, we will be left behind. There is no "shift" coming. It is happening now!

Speaking of shifting and cultivating Yin/female energy, since November of 2007 I have had the incredible pleasure and honour of sharing Bellyfit with over 50 trainees. This is a dream come true for me, and the ball is really rolling now. Although several of them are still doing their practicum in preparation to teach 'real' classes, and a few of them have taken other paths, many of them are now teaching Bellyfit in their communities and spreading the Bellyfit message. My wish for them is that they now choose to 'own Bellyfit'. I mean really embody the message and make it their own! They are all so beautiful, diverse, unique and strong in their own way (and I don't mean their 'core' although they are all very fit!!) and I am so very proud. They are the pioneers of this system that will rock the nation and together we will be the change that is needed in this world.

And 'togetherness' was indeed a primary theme for Every Women in the World this past weekend in Whistler as over 300 adventurous women gathered in Whistler B.C. to celebrate 'Starting Fresh' and being strong and healthy. From Goal setting, financial planning and Astrology workshops to African Healing Dance, Charleston and Laughter Yoga, the cornucopia of workshop choices was brilliant and inspiring. I of course took every ab, pilates and dance workshop I could squeeze in, including Street Jazz/hip hop and Mash Up, and attended all three of the communal meals including the fancy gala evening dinner with key note speakers Chef and Doctor on the Run...an incredible duo who just celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary and still do speaking engagements all over the world. Mom, you would love the message - moderation...everything in moderation, and keep moving!

And while I was connecting with my Transversus Abdominus, taking a dance journey through healing Africa, setting my goals for the rest of 2008, breathing fresh mountain air and connecting with incredible women around every corner, Rowan and Shalom were having their own adventures exploring Whistler Village, zip trekking through ancient rain forests, spotting baby bears, learning about 1000 year old licken and of course watching cartoons on the hotel TV! All in all, The Every Woman in the World Conference was life altering, as I knew it would be! Thank you...every woman! Next year I'll have a bus going up...maybe two! Victoria will represent large!

So now we turn to summer and with a dizzying tour schedule including Can Fit Pro, and two teacher trainings in the East, I am most looking forward to seeing my family back East, meeting many more women who are ready to take on and pass on the Bellyfit message, and most of all I am looking forward to doing Yoga with my mom on the deck that my brother built for her, overlooking the river and her own personal Shangrila...and maybe enjoying a few gin and tonics here and there too. Everything in moderation right mom?

Yinfully yours,
alice in shimmyland
xoxo
