Liquid Stranger Album to drop on Interchill Records

Liquid Stranger has become one of the prolific producers of the last 5 years in the realms of future-music, downtempo and mostly, Dubstep. Having released two full length albums on Interchill over the last several years plus one EP and a number of remixes, Liquid Stranger has cemented his position as one of my all time Interchill favorites alongside Gaudi and Kaya Project.

This third full-length release contains some of the most potent and juicy sound design and production I have ever heard. In addition to Mr. Stranger’s tight production, fat beats and juicy atmospherics is several fantastic collaborations MCs and vocalists.  Standing out from the crowd are KRS One, and MC Zulu- these two voclaists in particular are very familiar to me, KRS One being a staple in the underground hip hop sound most recently making his way onto my playlists in a collaboration with Bassnectar called ‘The Arrival’.

MC Zulu has been another of my other favorite reggae/dub/dancehall voclaists appearing a coupe years ago on David Last’s release called ‘Musically Massive’. Check out one of my favorite cuts off of that album here:

Liquid Stranger has been destroying dancefloors (in the dubstep/bass culture lingo, ‘destroy’ or ‘killing it’ usually means ‘people really like him’) all over the world with his harder edged Dubstep flavour. You can get a taste for this dancefloor-oriented dubstep on Interchill’s ‘Steel Trap Ep’ as well as a few cuts on the Intergalactic Slapstic album.

The Arcane Terrain promises to deliver a perfect balance of great hi-fi listening music for your living room plus a number of cuts are totally suitable for dancefloor applications. I really like how Liquid Stranger has managed to hold back the ‘grind’ or ‘wobble’ or ‘bass in your face’ sound that his full on dubstep releases have in spades, giving this album a really tight and fat sound without reminding me too much of jackhammers or power drills.

Overall, I give this release a full on two thumbs up, or 5/5 stars and I’m sure it will be making it onto my dj playlists for a long time to come. There may even be a couple tunes that could find their way onto upcoming Bellyfit instructor mixes and/or compilations- so keep your heads up for that.

Big respect to Martin aka ‘Liquid Stranger’ and Interchill on this release- totally top notch!
