Destress with exercise? go figure!

Today after a great Bellyfit class, when the sun came streaming through the clouds and beamed in through the windows of the Base Lounge, I felt very blessed and happy. But yesterday after a few days at my computer and no exercising, when the sky was gray and my toes were cold, I didn’t feel so blessed and happy. I felt like crap! Could a one hour workout, some deep breathing a few rays of sun really make that much of a difference? You betcha!! I’ve been studying these little things called Endorphins and although the vote is still out on how they actually work in relation to exercise, I believe there is no doubt that exercise does make us feel happier! Endorphins are released during exercise when the level of intensity is from moderate to high, and breathing is deep. They resemble opiates in their ability to produce analgesia and a feeling of well-being. In other words, they make you happy, and when you are happy, everything is easier. Combine some Endorphins with a few rays of sun to get that Vitamin D flowing, et voila - that $100 hydro bill, your list of Christmas gifts, and the dinner you have to cook for the in-laws just got a lot less stressful. Sweet.

We look forward to seeing you at the Base Lounge soon…where the sun is always shining and the endorphins flow freely! You have the power…
staying light
