Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions.
If we've left something out, please visit our support site!

  • Is there a pre-requisite to becoming a bellyfit® Instructor?

The short answer is no. Having experience with some form of movement related to bellyfit® (dance, fitness, yoga) is beneficial, and having experience teaching some form of movement is even more beneficial, but neither is required. The most important pre-requisite is a strong desire to inspire and motivate the women of your community! The rest will be a matter of time and practice.
  • How long does it take to complete the online course?

The course is self study, self paced and is comprised of approx. 10 hours of video content, all of which you will access online. We recommend that you complete the course within 1-3 months. Once you have studied all the course content and practiced your first routine, you will teach 8 volunteer practicum classes in your community and send in a video of your final class for review by your MTM. Once your video has been reviewed, you'll have your feedback call with your MTM and (assuming you rocked your class, which you will!!), you'll be upgraded to certified Instructor status and start teaching paid classes.
  • Is there a monthly membership fee to be a Bellyfit® Instructor?

Yes. Just like many other well known trademarked systems in the industry, there is a small fee of $25CAD every month for all bellyfit® Instructors. We call this a CREW fee (Creative Resources to Empower Women) and it gives you access to a member only online platform called CREW, loaded with bellyfit® choreography, music and marketing materials ~ everything you need to teach awesome classes. In the name of quality control and integrity, all active bellyfit® Instructors must have a CREW Membership.
  • Is there a time limit to complete the course?

Nope! Once you purchase the course, you will always have access to it and can proceed through it at your leisure. We'll support you as much as possible. However, we do recommend that you get to it as quickly as possible and harness the power of your current enthusiasm and inspiration!
  • Once I'm certified, how do I find a place to teach?

Once you're certified, you'll be an independent contractor and will be responsible for finding a venue or several to teach in. This could be a space that you rent, or it could be an already established business like a Dance studio, Gym, Fitness Club or Community Centre. Often Trainees will offer their practicum classes at the venue they want to teach at, and then just continue on after.
  • How much does the course cost?

Once your application is approved, you'll pay a CAD $100 admin fee and start paying your $25/month CREW fee.

Are you ready to jump in?

What you get once your application is approved

  • 15 minute welcome call with Bellyfit CEO Alice Bracegirdle

Alice likes to have personal contact with all the amazing women around the world who are teaching bellyfit®. That means you! She looks forward to welcoming you on board and getting you rolling!

  • Foundation Course

Once you've had your welcome call with Alice and confirmed that you're ready to proceed, you'll get access to the course. The first part is called the Foundation Course and it will give you the foundational theory you need to understand where this movement came from and what it's all about. Get clear on our philosophy, our mission, alignment principles, musicality, cueing and much more!

  • Movement Module

In addition to the Foundation Course, you'll study the Movement Module in which you'll learn all 7 sections of the class and cover the teaching formula that links it all together. You'll also see your first routine that you'll teach in your practicum classes and your first music mix.

  • 2 Master Trainer Mentorship Calls

As you progress through the course, you'll be invited to book 2 calls with your MTM. The first is your Orientation Call and will happen when you've completed the Foundation Course. This call is to ensure that any questions or concerns you may have are answered, assess your understanding of CREW and help you create a strategy and a timeline moving forward, specifically for your practicum classes and your video submission. Your second call is the Feedback Call and will happen after you have submitted your video for review by your MTM. Both of these calls are very important and will ensure that you feel supported and on track at all times throughout the course.

  • Access to private online community

We believe strongly in peer to peer support, and we've set up plenty of options. You'll have the option to join us on Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms to ensure that you feel support and inspired whenever you need it.

  • Instant access to CREW

Similar to many other well known trademarked systems in the industry, there is a small monthly fee of CAD $25 per month for all Bellyfit® Instructors to maintain their teaching status. This mandatory fee gives you access to a member-only online platform called CREW. It's loaded with fresh, fabulous bellyfit® choreography videos, music mixes created exclusively for bellyfit® Instructors and loads of marketing materials! Everything you need to pack and teach awesome classes. Once you've registered for CREW and paid the $100 set-up fee, we'll give you instant access to this amazing library of resources.
