Who can take the training?
The BFIIT is designed for Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers looking to add diversity to their skill set; Yoga Instructors wanting to expand their palette of class offerings; Pilates Instructors wanting to experience the fundamentals in new and exciting ways; dancers wanting to share the gift of movement; and any woman who has a burning desire to enhance her life and serve her community through health and fitness. It is a weekend you will never forget and one that will demonstrate without a doubt, that when allowed to celebrate life through movement together, women have the power to generate true transformation within self, community and the world. We can indeed heal our planet with our movement!
Are their any prerequisites to taking the BFIIT?
No there are no prerequisites. Any woman with a desire to deepen her knowledge in Holistic Fitness and wellness for women can register for the BFIIT. Certification in group fitness instruction, dance experience, musicality and/or knowledge of women's health and wellness are assets but not required. Any woman who has had a recent hip replacement or who has experienced recent, physical or emotional trauma to the abdomen including hysterectomy and termination of pregnancy should consult with her health care practitioner before attending the BFIIT. And although there are no prerequisites, all Bellyfit Instructors must have a computer and access to high speed internet.
Can I take the BFIIT if I am pregnant or just had a baby?
Prenatal and early Postpartum women are not encouraged to attend the BFIIT. The course is 20 hours of intense learning and there is considerable movement of the hips and tremendous focus on the core. Specifically women who are pregnant are not encouraged to attend, and women who are within 3 months post partum must present a note from their doctor in order to attend. This is simply for the safety of mom and baby and to respect the time required for the body to adjust after labour. If you have any further questions about this please do not hesitate to contact us.After I have completed the BFIIT is there a fee to maintain my certification?
Yes, but it is not called certification, it is called a CREW Membership. At Bellyfit, we are very proud of our diverse, skilled and talented instructors whom we affectionately call our 'CREW'.
What is CREW, how do I become CREW and how do I benefit from this?
CREW = Creative Resources to Empower Women.
CREW is an online resource available exclusively to CREW Members. To maintain our high standards and uniformity of instruction and to ensure that our instructors continue to lead the field in Holistic Fitness for women, all BFIIT participants are invited to join the Bellyfit CREW. All CREW Members are provided with essential resources that place their classes in high demand and help to generate both increased participation and revenue.
We are committed to supporting and inspiring our CREW through a continual supply of Bellyfit specific moves, music, information, marketing materials and evolutionary tools for professional, personal and financial empowerment. In addition to these essential resources for success, all of our CREW members are also given a customized online profile with photos, bio, contact info, class schedule and more. This unique instructor profile along with our Global Class Locator ensures that instructors and participants get connected, thereby filling up classes and keeping them full. Through the power of the Internet and the Bellyfit Website, CREW resources are made available through an integrated, easy to use online system. With a confidential user name and password, Bellyfit CREW Members have access to these continuously updated resources on a daily basis allowing them to create fresh, highly effective exercise classes, week after week.
All the details of the CREW System will be shared with you during your Bellyfit Instructor Initiation and Training Weekend Course. Becoming a CREW Member is required and is the only way to maintain your 'Instructor' status and your right to use the Bellyfit name, System and branding. The fee for your CREW Membership is a very reasonable $20.00+tx/month. Your commitment to maintaining the Bellyfit standard of instruction is essential to the safety and success of your participants, and to the long term sustainability of your classes.
When you invest in yourself and your community by becoming a Bellyfit Instructor and CREW Member, you are given the tools and the skills to inspire women through the power of movement, music, community, culture and more. The rewards are priceless.
What will I learn in the BFIIT?
The course content of the BFIIT weekend is focused on the Bellyfit System. This system includes a specific class format, choreography, exercises, postures, breathing techniques, teaching methods, philosophies, Mudras and self empowerment techniques that are essential for the success of your classes. Our highly skilled and experienced Bellyfit Master Trainers will focus primarily on the Bellyfit System with practical movement mastery and experiential teaching methods, but will also give you a better understanding of the subtle energy body, health issues effecting women today, and how to make your Bellyfit venture sustainable financially and energetically.
You will learn to master the Bellyfit Opening Meditation and Chakra Infused Warm-up. You will learn simple foundation cardio moves inspired by Belly Dance, Bollywood, Bhangra and African Dance that are all safe, effective and suitable for a group fitness environment and guaranteed to give your participants an awesome cardio workout! You will learn how to set your participants up for success with a series of Pilates inspired core exercises and get them fully connected to the fire within. We will practice and study Yoga inspired stretches that will allow you to lead your participants into flowing flexibility, and relaxed breath awareness. Designed for today's multifaceted woman, the BFIIT also includes segments on business management, uterine health and energy awareness.
Each participant will be encouraged to lead movement, ask questions and give feedback. One-on-one attention will be given as much as possible and certificates of completion will be given at the end of the course. Our goal is to have you leave the BFIIT feeling supported, empowered and inspired to lead women through an incredibly fun, balanced class that will give them tremendous health benefits and make them want more and more.
Is there a specific Bellyfit class format that I will need to follow?
Yes. The Bellyfit class is comprised of 7 sections that are blended seamlessly into one flowing moving meditation. All sections will be taught and practiced in detail throughout the course. We encourage you to express your individuality while retaining the format, flavour, philosophy and integrity of the tried and true Bellyfit System.
Once I attend the BFIIT can I start teaching right away?
Before you start teaching professional Bellyfit classes, we require that you teach at least 8 volunteer classes to friends and family in your community and practice diligently until you feel prepared. This process will take a different amount of time for each woman. We ask that you complete your practicum classes within 6 months maximum or request an extension if you require it. We know that you will use your best judgment and only teach when you are confident and ready to represent the Bellyfit System with integrity, safety and professionalism. You must also register as a CREW Member before you can start teaching professional classes. Full details will be given to you during your training.

Is there a written or practical exam?
No, there is no written or practical exam, but there is a twofold focus to the BFIIT and you will be challenged to absorb a lot of information in a short time. First we want to ensure that you understand the Bellyfit System, Class Format and Company Philosophy. Secondly we want to confirm that you feel both empowered as a Bellyfit Instructor and as a woman. You will be encouraged to lead practical movement, but no one is expected to master the Bellyfit Class Format in two days. You will be given feedback throughout the course and if anyone is having serious difficulties, both the Master Trainer and participant will discuss options. Any 'theory' that you will need to know will be available through your manual and the website at all times. The CREW forum and blogs, and the Bellyfit Support Team will also be available after your training to assist you in your preparation and post course training.
Once I am ready to teach where can I do so?
Each Bellyfit Instructor is an independent agent and is responsible for securing her own teaching location, terms, pay and contracts. Bellyfit is considered a specialty certification and some facilities may require that you have a general group fitness certification. They may also require that you have insurance and CPR. It is your responsibility to inform yourself of Fitness Industry standards in your area and adhere to these standards at all times. Continuing education is essential to your success and the rewards will be tremendous.
If I register for the BFIIT and then cancel what happens?
Please read our Terms and Conditions.
I really want to attend the training but I need to leave early on one of the days. Can I still attend and receive full certification?
The bulk of the practical information you will receive is in in the middle of the day. We strongly recommend that you stay for the duration of the course but if you must leave early (and miss no more than 1.5 hours of the days training) then you will need to discuss this with your Master Trainer when you sign in on Saturday morning. She will ensure that you are given the info you miss.Is there a demand for Bellyfit in the Fitness Industry?
Yes. The demand for Bellyfit is increasing at an exponential rate. The Bellyfit System is based on the principle that a workout should be fun and user-friendly, yet challenging and innovative, thereby allowing participants the chance to feel successful, yet constantly inspired to come back over and over again, year after year! By combining the dances and the ancient wisdom from one culture, with the modern precision and technology of another culture, we give participants an incredibly unique, fun, full body, full of spirit workout that places Bellyfit Instructors in high demand. Through Bellyfit, the power and diversity of movement, music, community and culture come together in the safe, effective and fun format of group fitness, and exercise is no longer a chore, but a celebration of life and unity.
